(FAQS) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Deciding to see a counsellor is an important step in caring for one’s mental health and personal well-being. Below are some FAQS about counselling to help make this a smooth process for you!

Vern Ward, Calista Ward, Freedom Counselling, Counselling, Vernon BC, FAQSWhat is counselling?

Counselling is a process of change that involves a counsellor and one or more individuals. It involves the client expressing themselves and their experience of life. The counsellor will listen thoughtfully and ask questions that help the client engage with their problems. The counsellor may also provide the client with important information about psychology and mental health that the client might not have known before. Through this process, the client can leave with heard, with a new understanding of their situation and a plan going forward that allows them to live life free.

How do I know it will work for me?

Counselling can seem like a big step to take, and it is important that the client can feel comfortable with the counsellor and confident that the process is right for them. That is why we offer two important things: A free, 30 minute consultation with the counsellor to determine if counselling is a good fit for them, and a money-back guarantee to give you peace of mind. Start today, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

I am worried about people finding out about what I talk about. Can that happen?

All counsellors take client confidentiality very seriously, and are bound by ethical codes of conduct to ensure that your information is never shared with anyone without your consent. This includes keeping client records – digital and physical – under multilevel security systems. However, there are some rare and specific exceptions where the counsellor may be required to share client information – for example under court order. Find out more about client confidentiality here.

How much does it cost?

Counselling comes at a cost, but our clients believe that their mental health is worth it. Our fees vary by counsellor and client (we have a sliding fee scale dependant on household income). Call today for more information or to book a free consultation with one of our experienced therapists!

Do I have to come to your office?

While many people like the face to face connection that in-person counselling provides, Freedom Counselling is pleased to offer a number of counselling options for our changing, modern world! These include Skype, Facetime, phone, text, or email counselling. Call or text today to start your process of change!

How long will it take?

Each person is different and comes to counselling for different reasons. Therefore it is hard to give an exact timeline for counselling before meeting in person.
